The ability of a leader to lead his subjects towards the achievement of a particular goal is the real measure of the effectiveness of a leader. Researchers who have been able to study and explore transformational leadership have understood that they have to include inspirational motivation as part of their study. Most of these scholars had been able to describe the aspect of transformational leadership by linking it with inspirational leadership and its effect when they observed it from their followers. The literature of transformational leadership is different when we consider other forms of leadership styles such as transactional and monitoring leadership styles. When we consider transactional and monitoring leadership styles, its concept is based exchanging all the compensation, which mainly involved amenableness. However, if we look at transformational leadership, it is purely based on transferring the influence and values from the senior post to the subordinate post to achieve all the experience. The four types of dimensions that have been proposed that mainly revolve around transformational leadership are inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, and idealized influence. The dimension on inspirational motivation is based on the idea that the leaders try to urge all their supporters to attain a particular goal by use of description that is compensating and attractive regarding the goals. For idealized influence, it is the idea of being a role model in front of the employees and being ready to sacrifice for the benefit of the whole group. In this situation leaders have a high level of ethical grounds and conducts, and they can do anything for the team. Previous researchers focused on the features of transformational leaders and their link with most of their supporters. Another research on transformational leadership has been focusing on the behaviors of the leaders where it has been established that transformational leadership is linked with the activities of the leaders and their ability to construct a clear vision for their supporters. The activities have to be clear and expressive of the goals and behavior of the employees. Literature Review Most researchers strive to define the ideas on motivation based on their knowledge and explanations. The definition may include words that revolve around motives, aim, and needs. If we consider the word motivation, it is an extraction of the Latin word to move.' Motivation has to be expressed and explained as a definite process that drives the necessary force that primarily exists in human beings for them to get their visions and desired goals that have been preset in their minds. This primarily shows that if there is an imbalance, then the needs of the human nature are created. To fulfill these requirements, the humans experience a force that helps them to get encouraged to get the satisfaction that they require. Here, the elements mentioned assist in the completion of the meaning of motivation. Motivation Motivation is defined as is the inner force that drives someone to attain a particular goal over a given period. We should also consider the fact that motivation is an extract from the word motive,' which means to move to pursue a particular goal. Every person on this planet has a certain objective that they are willing to fulfill over a given period. For this reason, any management that needs to be successful needs to introduce the aspect of motivation. Motivation acts as a tool that specifies that every individual has where it presents their unique abilities and qualities. This means that each person has the sense to do what they want to do which has arisen through the element of motivation. Internship with and After-School Program

Internship with and After-School Program Free Online Research Papers I interned at Sesame Flyers Bildersee Beacon (SFBB) located at Isaac Bildersee Intermediate School in Brooklyn, New York. It accommodates participants ranging from grades kindergarten through eighth grade. The participants come from different schools. The building is equipped with an auditorium, gymnasium, cafeteria, classrooms, nurse’s office, and bathrooms. There are many after school programs throughout New York City. These programs were established to help working parents. Working parents who could not attend to their children when they are released from school. These after school programs ensure nutritionist meals, homework assistance and extra-curricular activities. You cannot expect to run an after school program unless you are equipped to handle the needs of the students. The staff has to be knowledgeable in several areas. The students’ are relying on the teachers and staff to protect them. The students’ safety and health is the number one priority to SFBB. On September 21, 2009, I started my internship at SFBB. I was excited to intern at SFBB because I work at Isaac Bildersee Intermediate School during the day. My responsibilities included ensuring nutritionist meals were eaten before the start of after school activities. Supervise and implement a structured activity with participants’ grades kindergarten through first. Assistance with homework in all academic subjects. I also implement extra-curricular activities upon completion of their homework. Prior to my first day at work, I was surprised to find that I was feeling anxious. My anxiety was based on a fear that there might be little or no structure, searching for assignments and feeling generally uncomfortable with my new situation. I was nervous because it was something I had never done before. Mrs. Dailey assigned me six students, three boys and three girls, Mikal 5, Kevin 6, Jamal 5, Cassandra 5, Mikaya 5, and Shatera 6. A teacher who has known me for the past five years from working in the same building knew it would be something I could handle. It was an experience that taught me to be open to trying new things. As the intern, I made sure all of my students did art projects, read books, played games, and participated in-group activities. It made the classroom a fun place and kept them interested in learning. The classrooms had desks. I allowed the students to pick where they sat because I wanted them to feel comfortable. â€Å"As the student, it is to your advantage to learn as much as possible about the agency and the way it serves its clientele†, (4th Ed., p 47). I feel that being organized it is easier to juggle the additional roles of being a student and a practicum intern. There is three items that I use in developing organizational skills: a day-by-day calendar, a pocket size notebook, and a daily to-do list. I use my calendar to record all appointments, deadlines, and crucial events. In my notebook, I jot down errands and tasks I need to do as they occur. On my to-do list, I jot what must be done in order for me to accomplish my goals. A typical day started at 3:00pm, I would greet my students and escort them to the cafeteria to eat a nutritionist meal before we go to our assigned classroom. At 4:00, we are in our classroom and doing their homework begins. I assisted with their homework when needed. Each classroom has three adults, eighteen students, and is assigned an activity, which changes on a daily basis. Free time in the gymnasium, African dance in the auditorium, arts and crafts projects, board games, and book read-aloud. My supervisor, Mrs. Donald was helpful to me during my internship. She was always eager to answer all my questions I had. I felt comfortable speaking with her. I knew I could approach her at any time, and she would stop what she was doing to show me I had her full attention. She always treated me as an equal staff member. I learned that being a teacher and supervisor to my students is a lot harder than I thought. I had to make the class fun, interesting and comfortable. My students had no problem voicing their opinions on what they didn’t like. We decided as a group what arts and crafts projects would be done, what books would be read, and what board games would be played. I felt involving the students showed them that their opinions mattered to me. The staff members treated me with respect and kindness. They gave me advice and included my students in projects and parties. They offered me help without me asking for it. We worked well as a team and knew we could count on each other. The students were friendly and happy to welcome me. If I saw them outside of SFBB, they would come up to me to say hello. I looked forward to volunteering each week. It was a wonderful environment to work in because of the staff and the students. I really enjoyed working with the children very much, and of course Mrs. Donald as well. I learned a lot about things like teaching arts and crafts projects, assisting with the homework, and doing the other extra-curricular activities. I think that this type of internship work was very beneficial. I do not regret for one second taking part in this internship. I am very thankful to have been able to do something such as this, and I believe it helped me to narrow my mind in the decisions I will make for my future in college. It was definitely a good start to broadening my horizons. The research paradigm: The introduction section of an article is aimed at identifying the research problem, to determine the magnitude of the problem in the society and to provide the rationale behind carrying out the study, as suggested by Parahoo (2006). In this paper, the background to the research objective is clearly and adequately explained in the introduction. The authors shed light on both the significance of narratives in an individual’s lives and the role of narratives in describing ones experience of a chronic illness in a precise manner. Moreover, they also describe the DIPEx database which was used to extract the information of the patient’s narratives utilized in this study (Cheshire & Ziebland, 2005, p. 1). The most important aspect of this study is narratives. The authors have used the classic definition of narrative as defined in previous literature and have discussed the different sections and forms of narratives, in order to provide the readers wi th a sufficient background to aid their understanding of the upcoming sections of the research paper. Thus, overall, the authors have provided sufficient background and have laid down the conceptual framework for this research, which is a requirement of any good research paper (Holliday, 2004, p. 68) Research questions /hypotheses/ issues: Although the authors provided a justifiable rationale for conducting this study (Treloar, Champness, Simpson, & Higginbotham, 2000, p. 347) in the introduction section of their paper, they have not provided any properly formulated research hypothesis. They do mention the issue that they want to address, i.e.: to examine how individuals express their experiences of illnesses using narratives, but the research question itself is not expressed in an explicit, unambiguous form for the readers. Methodology used: This study aimed to examine the various aspects of subjective experiences of patients. Thus, for such a study, where subjective experiences of study participants are being elucidated, the qualitative methodology is best suited and the authors’ use of this methodology is justified. Data collection methods:Â   The researchers used convenient, purposive sampling. The study sample was limited to just two participants. There was no clear sampling method or strategy defined, which is an important requirement for research papers (Greenhalgh, 2006, p. 172). No inclusion or exclusion criteria for selecting the study participants were mentioned. The authors used convenient sampling and arbitrarily chose two patients. They justify their selection by mentioning that these two patients were chosen because they had similar medical histories. However, this methodology is not explained clearly enough to be replicated by other researchers in future studies. In addition, although the subjects were similar in terms of their medical history, they might vary in other demographic aspects such as age, ethnicity, socioeconomic background , etc, about which no information has been provided (except for age).
